Health Care Assistants
A healthcare assistant is a vital member of the healthcare team who provide direct support and assistance to patients and other health care professionals. They are supported by registered nurses and other healthcare professionals. They help patients manage long term conditions, administer flu vaccinations and record ECGs as well as a vast array of other health services which support patients and healthcare professionals.

I have worked for the practice for 13 years now. First as a receptionist then qualified as HCA in 2018 and became a health coach. I’m back to HCA role, work in LTC clinics and NHS checks. Trainee counsellor in the making.
Heather Floyd

Heather joined Lion Health in May 2021 after working at Russell’s Hall Hospital for 10 years as a clinical/maternity support worker mainly working in Antenatal clinic. Her job roles are assisting in the treatment room with blood pressure, ECG’s, wound management, Vaccines, urinalysis and assisting in family planning and minor ops. Other main duties are assisting clinicians in Long term conditions including Asthma, Hypertension and Diabetes.
Rachel Parry

After 25 years in retail, Rachel joined the Lion Health reception team in 2017 and qualified as a Health Care Assistant in 2020. Her main responsibilities are NHS Health Checks and she has a special interest in Mental Health.
Alison Shaw

After experience within the care sector at Senior/deputy level supporting Residents I joined Lion Health in March 2022. My Role includes to assist with nurse suite duties, blood pressure readings, ECG’s, wound management, vaccinations, urinalysis, supporting with minor ops procedures, Health checks and Long Term Condition clinics support regarding Hypertension.
Leanne Holden

I have worked in healthcare for over 15 years, I have worked in urgent care centres and the ambulance service triaging patients and advising appropriate services. I have worked in GP surgeries for over 6 years and cover both long term conditions such as hypertension and asthma and also do treatment room duties such as blood taking, ECG’s, ear syringing and wound management. I also assist in family planning clinics and minor ops.
Laura Hudson
Female
Bachelor of science in Professional Studies in Healthcare 2006 at the University of Wolverhampton. Laura is our Home Visiting HCA.
Extended healthcare team
Many GP practices now include a range of health professionals who can diagnose and treat health conditions. This ensures that you see the right person at the right time. If it is most appropriate for you to see a doctor, you will be offered an appointment with a GP. However, the GP isn’t always the best person for you to see.
