Dr Stephen Mann Partner

Dr Mann qualified from the University of Birmingham in 1986.  He is the Senior Partner at Lion Health, with an interest in all areas of General Practice.  He is also an active member of the Dudley CCG Board as Clinical Executive for Acute & Community, and Stourbridge Rugby Club.

Dr Paul Farley Partner

Qualified University College London 1991, moved to the Midlands, working at the local hospitals until 1993 before entering General Practice.  Member of the Royal College of GPs and the British Medical Association.  Interested in all areas of General Practice - particularly education (GP trainer and undergraduate tutor), and respiratory medicine.


Dr Glenys Wilson Partner

Qualified in 1987 from St George's Medical School London.  After completing her training in London, she worked in Australia in hospital medicine and general practice.  She returned to work in Birmingham and joined Worcester Street Surgery/Lion Health in 1996.  Her interests are respiratory medicine, mental health (including learning disability) and women's health.

Dr Heidi Kerr Partner

Dr Heidi Kerr, originally from Belfast, trained at Birmingham Medical School, graduating in 1997.  She completed her GP training in Worcestershire.  She has an interest in diabetes management in primary care, women's health and is a GP trainer. 

Dr Steven Berwick Partner

Dr Berwick qualified from Liverpool Medical School in 1989, and has been a GP since 1994, having trained both in Merseyside and the Black Country Training Schemes.  He gained membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2010.  His interests include the prescribing and teaching of undergraduate medical students.

Dr Simon Carvell Partner

Qualified Birmingham 1994.  A Member of the Royal College of GPs since 1994.  Also a member of the Emma's Diary editorial board, and contributor to Shropshire Review magazine.

Dr John Woolley Partner

Qualified in 2004 from University of Birmingham, I was a medical student at the practice in 2002, did my GP training in the Dudley area before before coming back to work as a salaried GP in 2009. I became a partner in 2010. Specialist areas of interest include all aspects of cardiovascular medicine.

Dr Victoria Hobbs Partner

Dr Hobbs trained at The University of Birmingham and qualified in 2000.  She joined the practice in 2005 and during her time at Lion Health she has developed a specialist interest in Women’s and Sexual Health.


Dr Richard Evans


Dr Evans is local to Stourbridge, growing up in the area before going to Liverpool Medical School and graduating in 2009.  He returned for GP training in the Black Country, which he completed in August 2014, having spent his final 12 months of training at Worcester Street Surgery.  He is currently starting to establish his areas of special interest in medical education and palliative care.

Dr Lisa Jones Partner

Dr Jones qualified from Birmingham Medical School in 2006, then went on to do her GP training in North Worcestershire.  She started work at Worcester Street Surgery in 2011.  She has interests in all aspects of gynaecology; including family planning, and discusses cases weekly at our gynae triage meetings at the surgery.  She fits coils and implants as part of a family planning clinic in-house, and also enjoys teaching medical students and registrars we have at the surgery.

Dr Rose Oliver Salaried Doctor Dr Oliver graduated from Liverpool University in 1989.
Dr Clare Simpson Salaried Doctor

Dr Simpson has worked at Lion Health since she completed her General Practice training in August 2012.  She works as a full time salaried GP, doing a total of eight clinical sessions a week.  She has a particular interest in Medical Education, this involves teaching Medical Students from The University Of Birmingham approximately one day a fortnight.  Additionally, Dr Simpson has an interest Women's Health and Family Planning, regularly attending the weekly Gynaecology Meetings.  Furthermore, she plays an active role in Hypertension Clinics.

Dr Samantha Radstone Salaried Doctor

Dr Radstone graduated from Birmingham Medical School in 2004 and qualified as a GP in January 2010.  She joined Worcester Street/Lion Health in August 2013.  She has an interest in Child Health and medical education.  Outside of the surgery, she is a Major in the Army Reserves and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009 as a medical officer.

Dr Thomas Giles Salaried Doctor

Dr Giles graduated from Birmingham University in 2011.

Dr Liz Arthur Salaried Doctor

Dr Arthur trained at the University of Birmingham and qualified in 2011.  She completed her GP training in South Birmingham, and is currently looking to develop her specialist interest in Family Planning.

Dr Kavita Rudge Salaried Doctor

Dr Rudge graduated from Birmingham University in 2012.

Dr Pia-Sophie Wool Salaried Doctor Dr Wool graduated from the University of London in 1996.
Dr Rashmi Varma Salaried Doctor

Dr Varma graduated from the University of London in 1993, and has a special interest in minor surgery.

Dr Rebecca Blow  

Dr Blow graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2011.

Dr Gemma Plant Salaried Doctor

Dr Plant grew up in the Stourbridge area and graduated from Birmingham Medical School in 2013. She completed her GP training in Sandwell and joined Lion Health in August 2018.

Registrars are qualified doctors who are here for a period of time while they complete their General Practice training. They come from a wide range of medical backgrounds and offer fresh and different specialism's to complement our practice.

Each one has a named G.P. trainer who supervises their attachment at the practice.

Jo Hawkins  

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Jo has been a nurse at Lion Health, and previously Worcester Street Surgery, for 22 years.  She is an Independent Nurse Prescriber, with a vast knowledge of the full spectrum of Long Term Conditions.

Andy Caddick Advanced Nurse Practitioner

An ANP who's specialised in Cardiology/Cardiovascular illness for around 15 years.  Most of Andy's career has been spent in cardiology in secondary care where he has been a Staff nurse, Charge nurse/Ward manager before specialsing as a Nurse Practitioner.
He is an independant non-medical presciber, and able to assess, diagnoses and implement a treatment plan for patients seen.  He joined Lion Health as part of the LTC team.

Paula Middleton Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Qualifying in 1992, after working a short spell in the Dudley hospitals, Paula moved into community nursing.

Here she gained 22 years’ experience in a number of nursing roles, enhancing her knowledge and skills along the way.

Paula’s keen clinical interest has always been caring for the elderly. Paula now cares for all Lion Health patients living

within a residential or nursing home.

Rachel Higley  

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Qualifying in 1997 as a Registered Nurse from the University of Wolverhampton, Rachel spent 4 years on an Acute Medical ward at Wordsley Hospital. Rachel then took a position within the community and completed her BSc Hons in District Nursing in 2004. Following this, experience and skills were gained as a District Nurse Team Leader.

An interest in the management of Long Term Conditions was developed and Rachel spent 6 years in a nursing position as an Assertive Case Manager, caring for those with multiple Long Term Conditions. Skills in health and physical assessment have been developed and Rachel supports GPs with home visits and is also involved with some areas of Long Term Condition Management. 

Kim Stokes Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Kim qualified in 2010 as a Registered Adult Nurse from the University of Worcester. Her first post was as a Staff Nurse in Trauma and Orthopaedics.  She later embarked on a career within the community, completing Specialist Practice training in 2016.

During her time within the community she has managed a number of teams, gaining a wealth of knowledge and skills along the way.

She became an independent prescriber in 2018 and became a part of the Lion Health Home Visiting team in January 2020.

Michelle Holland Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Qualified 1991 as RGN and as a Midwife 1995.

Career long and varied but mainly focused in Primary care and long term conditions.

After working as a midwife and then district nurse in both Stourbridge and Worcestershire she moved into general practice as a Practice Nurse Manager , developing new services and managing the diabetes service  before returning to Dudley to Lead the community diabetes specialist team. Michelle was  Involved assessing complex patients requiring a specialist level of diabetes management/knowledge in both clinics and  the home environment. She's passionate about diabetes education and a trained diabetes specialist educator for both patients and other health professionals . She has been involved in both chairing and  speaking at conferences to educate other health professionals in the field of diabetes.

Julie Evans Nurse Practitioner/Nurse Prescriber

As one of the the Senior Practice Nurses Julie has worked at our practice for many years.

Generally she works within the general nursing clinics, and has a keen interest in travel health and related travel immunisations.

Jenny Costello Practice Nurse

Jenny has been  a member of the nursing team for 10 years.  Experienced across the board in all aspects of practice nursing duties.

Jenny has a particular interest in diabetes and insulin management as well as being involved in the management of other chronic diseases.

Suzannah Whitehead Practice Nurse Sue qualified in 1991, and has background experience of intensive care and palliative care.
Helen Duffield Practice Nurse

Helen qualified as a Registered Nurse 1982 and her clinical background lies mainly within the speciality of medical nursing including oncology and haematology.  Previous roles have included Hospital Matron for Older Peoples Services and Clinical Team Leader for a Long Term Conditions programme before she joined as a Practice Nurse in 2012.  Throughout her career she has developed a particular interest in quality of care and innovative practice with the aim of improving patient experiences.  As a result she was invited to, and participated as, a judge on the Nursing Times and Health Service Journal Integration and Patient Safety Care Awards in 2012 and 2013.  Additionally, She is actively involved in the prevention and control of infection control within the practice promoting compliance with national guidance /standards.

Helen Hanson Practice Nurse

Helen Qualified in 1988 and moved to London to work in plastics for 5 years then moving to Stourbridge joined the district nursing team.  Clinical background lies mainly within district nursing.  Practice nurse for 12 years with particular interest in diabetes and wound care but experienced in all aspects of practice nursing.

Melinda Forbes Health Care Assistant

Melinda joined the practice in 2012, and has 12 years experience as an HCA.

She works in the treatment room; dealing with with wound care, ECGs, phlebotomy, NHS health checks, blood pressure, ear syringing, and flu vaccinations. 

Melinda also assists with minor operations, and supports our family planning clinic.

Charlotte Jones Health Care Assistant

Charlotte joined the surgery in March 2011, she works in the treatment room providing wound care, ECGs, phlebotomy and blood pressure checks.  Also works in health promotion clinics offering weight management, health checks, new patient checks and smoking cessation.

Charlotte is also involved in diabetes, chest management and hypertension clinics.

Special interest in wound care, smoking cessation and hypertension.

Anna Mierlak Health Care Assistant Anna is a valued member of the HCA Team.
Leanne Holden Health Care Assistant

Joining Lion Health in March 2017, Leanne has been a healthcare assistant for 10 years; working with acute illness and helping manage chronic long term conditions in various healthcare settings.

Main role is assisting with long term conditions, hypertension, diabetes, asthma and COPD clinics, she also works within our treatment room offering ear irrigation, ECG’s, wound management and blood pressure monitoring advice. 

Her main interest is family planning and women’s health.

Erin Cartwright Health Care Assistant Erin has recently joined Lion Health following the merge with Norton practice, and is a valued member of the HCA Team, with an interest in respiratory medicine.

Rebecca joined Lion Health in May 2019.  Prior to joining Rebecca was a Paramedic for 15 years with WMAS, her main roles at Lion health include wound management, ECG's and assisting in LTC clinics.
